Get to Know Dr. Afua Mireku, DDS

Dr. Afua Mireku is a board-certified endodontist dedicated to excellence in patient care and education. Born in New York and raised in New Jersey, she pursued both her undergraduate and dental education at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, earning a Bachelor of Science in Biopsychology and a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree.

Following dental school, Dr. Mireku completed an Advanced General Dentistry Residency at the University of Maryland Baltimore College of Dental Surgery in 2005. She continued her specialty training there, receiving her certificate in Endodontics in 2007 and a Master’s in Biomedical Science in 2008.

In 2014, Dr. Mireku achieved Diplomate status with the American Board of Endodontics, a distinction that reflects her commitment to the highest standards in her field. She is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Association of Endodontists, American Dental Association, Maryland State Dental Association, and the Greater Chesapeake branch of the Seattle Study Club.

Beyond her clinical work, Dr. Mireku is passionate about educating young patients and families. She is the author of YaYa’s Wiggle Tooth, a children’s book that introduces kids to dental health in a fun and approachable way. In her free time, she enjoys playing the violin, traveling, and spending quality time with family and friends.
